Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, water pressure requirements exist. For normal operation, the inlet water pressure of a central water softener should be maintained between 0.15–0.6 MPa.
Low pressure (0.6 MPa) may damage internal components of the device, causing leaks or other issues.
If the water pressure does not meet the requirements, install a pressure booster pump or pressure relief valve for adjustment.
When to add salt: Refill the salt when the salt level in the salt tank drops below 1/3.
How to add salt: Open the salt tank cover and slowly pour in specialized water softener salt. Take care to prevent salt granules from spilling outside the tank or onto other parts of the machine.
Salt type: Use high-purity, low-impurity water softener salt (e.g., food-grade sodium chloride pellets). Avoid table salt or industrial salt, as their impurities (such as calcium, magnesium, or iron) can clog the resin bed, impairing the softener’s performance and service life.
Central water softeners primarily remove calcium and magnesium ions from water through ion exchange resin to reduce water hardness, but they cannot remove harmful substances like bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, or organic compounds.
Use for daily tasks: Soft water is suitable for laundry, bathing, cleaning, and other household purposes, as it reduces scale buildup and improves detergent efficiency.
Drinking water safety: Soft water is not recommended for direct consumption. For drinking, pair the softener with a reverse osmosis (RO) water purifier or other advanced filtration systems to further purify the water.
